Rafting the Wallowa River is perfect for those seeking an enjoyable afternoon of scenery, sunshine, and outdoor family fun. Starting at Minam, our guides will lead you 9 miles down the roadless Wallowa canyon and will finish with a one of a kind shuttle back on the railroad tracks. Floats on the Wallowa can be defined by two seasons as the summer progresses:
1/2 Day Wallowa Guided Raft + Rail Trip
Memorial Day - approx. July 10
Fueled by runoff and steep gradient, the river is fast and filled with class 2 whitewater. With plenty of fun waves and rapids including the Minam Roller, Red Rock, Blind Falls, and Schizo, grab a paddle and listen closely as your guide directs you to maximize the splash factor. During the peak of the heat, take advantage of spots to swim and keep an eye open for eagles, otters and other wildlife.
1/2 Day Wallowa Guided Raft + Rail Trip Low Water
July 11 - Labor Day
As summer marches on and runoff subsides, the rapids mellow and the river gives way to a slower pace. Now is the time to sit back and relax to the sound of the river and the motion of the boat, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles, elk, bears, and other stunning wildlife. With plenty of swimming holes, this scenic float trip is ideal for beating the afternoon heat.
