We run our 5-day guided fly fishing trips from the first week of September through the first week of November. Arrive at the Minam Store by 8 am, meet the guide crew, pack your drybags, and start fishing! Today you will be fishing the roadless stretch of the Wallowa from Minam to Rondowa. Where is Rondowa? Rondowa is the confluence of the Grande Ronde and Wallowa Rivers. The railroad men in the early 20th century combined the last half of the Grande Ronde (Rond) with the last half of Wallowa (owa) to name the confluence Rondowa.
This is a beautiful, scenic 10 mile stretch of water that is productive for big rainbows, incidental bull trout, and steelhead. Halfway through the day we will stop for a riverside lunch where you get to sit under big Ponderosa Pines and watch eagles and osprey fly by.
We arrive at camp between 5:00 and 6:00 pm to a well-orchestrated river camp set up by our camp crew. Unwind in a comfortable wall tent fully outfitted with cots, pads, sleeping bag, and pillow. Hors d’oeuvres wait, and a delicious dinner is not far behind. Enjoy a riverside dinner with good company and beautiful night skies under rimrock canyons.
